“Work is something that you do,
not somewhere that you go.”
You might think of Yorkshire Housing as ‘just’ a housing provider but we’re so much more than that. We’re all about making a positive difference in people’s lives, whether that’s helping people get on the property ladder, supporting with money coaching or enabling our older customers to continue to live independently. And to do that, we need to recruit and keep the very best people.
We are passionate about being inclusive and are recognised as a disability confident employer, we’ve also achieved the Investors in People Gold accreditation. On top of that, we’ve won a few awards along the way too! We’re really proud of what we achieve for our customers every day and that success is down to the hard work and efforts of our people.
It’s not all about work though, we want you to have fun with it too – you spend your best waking hours at work, after all. And talking of hours, we’ve left the days of 9-5 behind and give our people options in where, when and how they work within the scope of their role.
Does this sound like something you’d like to be part of? Take a look at our current opportunities below.
At Yorkshire Housing we’ve got a strong set of values and a culture where people can learn, thrive and enjoy their work. We believe that our values help us to achieve our goals for our customers. They also make it clear what people should expect from us and what we expect from each other.
At the core of our culture is our shared belief in making a positive difference to people’s lives. Take a look at our values below to find out more:
How we recruit
It’s the people that make Yorkshire Housing a great place to work, so we put a big focus on matching your values to the role, not just your skills and experience. You’ll usually submit a CV or application form as a first step and then if you get shortlisted, we’ll look at the best method of selection for the position you’re applying for. Your interview could also involve a presentation, technical test or another activity appropriate for the role.
The coronavirus pandemic means that we’re conducting a lot of recruitment remotely so you might be invited to meet us online during the process. We know that remote interviews might be something you’ve never done before, so we’ve put together a video for you to find out how we recruit remotely, from those that have just done it!

“The two things I love the most about Yorkshire Housing are the familiar feeling you automatically get from all colleagues when you start working, we are a people business and that is something you really get from day one. The second thing is the vast amount of development and learning opportunities, my personal experience has been amazing in this respect, the organisation supported and funded my further professional qualifications and I have been able to progress through three different roles within L&OD within 2 and a half years.”
Learning and organisational development partner
“Yorkshire Housing is a great place to work, we help one another to grow and succeed. There’s ample learning and development opportunities across the business for whatever suits you best. I’d say the best aspect of Yorkshire Housing is that we are continuously helping customers and changing their life for the better!“
Customer services resolution advisor
“I joined Yorkshire Housing in 2017 as a Marketing Assistant and I was lucky to have such great mentors and managers who supported me throughout my development leading me to now manage my own team. Since becoming a manager, my development hasn’t stopped which I enjoy, I’m always being pushed outside of my comfort zone so there’s never a dull moment.”
“Working at Yorkshire Housing is like being part of a large family, we care about each other, our customers and what services we deliver to improve those peoples lives we touch. I believe I lead with a positive, open, honest and supportive style that brings the best out of my colleagues and team. This naturally enables and embeds the culture we live, breathe and demonstrate as human beings.
“I feel that the values we have are displayed by all which makes Yorkshire Housing a great place to work, and I’m proud to be part of our exciting journey. The passion for innovation and in turn, the technology we use makes my role here at YH interesting, enjoyable and exciting.”
ICT development manager
“Yorkshire Housing are a fantastic company to work for – there’s a lot of flexibility to help with work life balance and I’ve found there’s been great support from management. There are also opportunities for development with access to training courses and opportunities for career progression.”
“I started working for Yorkshire Housing as an Innovation Analyst, just as the lockdown was announced. This brought with it some anxieties about not really being able to fit into the team as I wouldn’t be in the same location as them. These were very quickly alleviated by the supportive nature of the management and my colleagues here. I was instantly made to feel very welcome through regular video catch ups with both my manager and other members of the team.
I have since been asked to be part of the Staff Forum to represent my ICT colleagues, as well the social squad, which involves thinking about and organising activities to engage with all employees. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Yorkshire Housing so far and can honestly say that, although I was filled with trepidation moving to a new organisation at such a difficult time, I wouldn’t change it at all, it is probably one of the best decisions I have made in years!”
