We’ve received the outcome of our latest inspection by the Regulator of Social Housing.
Yorkshire Housing has been assessed as:
- G1 for governance
- V2 for financial viability
- C1 for consumer standards
Most importantly, the regulator has confirmed we’re meeting the regulatory standards customers should expect from their landlord.
What does that actually mean?
The regulator checks how well housing providers are run, how financially secure they are, and whether they’re delivering safe, effective services. Our C1 Consumer Standards rating means we’re meeting the required standards for:
- Keeping homes safe
- Carrying out repairs
- Managing neighbourhoods
- Handling complaints properly
- Treating customers with fairness and respect
This rating is part of the regulator’s strengthened consumer framework, which puts a stronger focus on the quality of services customers receive. Achieving the top grade of C1, means we’re meeting those standards.
Are we financially secure?
Our G1 governance rating means we’re well run. We’ve got strong leadership, clear decision-making and good oversight. Our V2 viability rating means we’re financially stable and able to meet our commitments. We continue to invest in improving existing homes as well as building lots of new affordable homes across the region. That makes our finances more complex, but the regulator recognises we’ve got strong plans in place to manage that responsibly. In simple terms: we’re financially secure and continuing to invest in homes and services.
What’s improved?
Since our last inspection, we’ve made changes to improve the experience customers receive and experience. Examples of some of the changes include:
- Bringing back local Housing Officers
- Strengthening how repairs are managed
- Improving how we handle complaints
- Investing in new technology to make it easier to contact us
- Creating more opportunities for customers to influence decisions
The regulator recognised the progress we’ve made and the systems we’ve put in place to keep customers safe.
Here’s what our Chief Exec, Nick Atkin, had to say after seeing the results.
“Our inspection rating shows the progress we’ve made on our journey to be customer obsessed, building homes and creating places to be proud of. It’s also provided a sense check against our exciting plans to make the move to a pre emptive service offer.
“Everyone’s worked so hard these past few years to improve our services and put our customers at the heart of everything we do.
“We’re understandably proud of this result. But this isn’t the finish line as we are just getting started! We’ll maintain our focus on listening, improving and focusing on what matters most - making sure our customers have got a place they’re proud to call home.”
