Yorkshire Housing has started work on their development in Mapplewell, Barnsley. This new, semi-rural scheme will offer 25 affordable two and three-bedroom homes.
It will help to address the shortage of affordable housing in the area by offering local people quality homes that they can afford.
Chief executive of Yorkshire Housing Mervyn Jones said: “These 25 new homes play a big part in supporting local people to be able to live and work in Barnsley and the surrounding areas. This development contributes to Yorkshire Housing’s commitment to build 3,000 more new homes before 2020.”
Councillor Roy Miller from Barnsley Council said: “We have a strong need for affordable homes in this area, with over 1,100 people on the housing waiting list for three-bed homes. This new development will no doubt be popular with local families who are in need of affordable, quality homes.”
