Yorkshire Housing's Director of Homes has a passion for regeneration, construction and community development

With over 20 years of experience in the housing sector, Liz O’Connor is proof that being passionate about your role can allow for a successful career in housing.

Starting out in regeneration, with a project involving the transformation of council housing, Liz completed her Diploma in Professional Housing Studies in 2006.

Liz explains her journey after her diploma: “I then moved into the Engagement Manager role, where I oversaw the tenant consultation for the Decent Homes Programme from 2005.

“In 2007, I switched to the Construction side and gained my HND in Construction and CIOB.”

After working as Repairs Manager, Head of Service, and Assistant Director, Liz joined Yorkshire Housing as Director of Homes in April 2023.

“I've always been passionate about community development and regeneration, which led me to pursue a career in housing.

“I have admired Yorkshire Housing for being ahead of the curve and I am thrilled to be part of this amazing organisation.”
