Community grants and fundraising

Making a difference to local communities

Community grants

Have you got a great idea that you want to bring to life, but need some funding to get the ball rolling? We’ve got community grants of up to £2,500 available if you’re looking for support for projects in your local area.

Anyone can apply - customers, local charities and community groups. Your idea just needs to have a positive impact on the community and Yorkshire Housing customers!

In the past, we've had people use their grant to develop community gardens, lunch clubs and educational or sports programme for young people to name a few!

So, if you've got an idea on how to make some positive changes in your community, we'd love to hear from you!

How to apply

Take a look at our guidance on what we can and can't support, along with some more info on how it all works.

Then, if you meet our criteria and would like to apply, just complete our application form!

PS. Our grants programme is extremely popular so we often have more requests for funding than we can support.

Further community support

As well as our grants, our community independence team know all about the different kinds of funding also available to you. They can help you look for the best places to apply for support, depending on the type of event or activity you're planning and how much funding you need. We can give advice and guidance on your application, too!

Drop us an email with a bit of info about your idea and we'll be in touch to see how we can help.

Some examples of how our grants have helped projects like yours!

Funding will be used to provide the group with weekly refreshments for a year, and they will be actively encouraging our customers from Sherwood Court to join.

The idea for a dementia singing group is based on research which shows music and memory have a powerful connection. Music lights up emotional memories, everyone remembers songs from their past. Music has lots of benefits too, it helps reduce anxiety and depression, helps maintain speech and language, enhances quality of life and has a positive impact on carers. We can't wait to hear some of their songs!

A £500 grant helped to give training for their volunteers and get the right insurances. It also helped with their venue hire and to develop their project. After a year, with the funding and support from our team they were able to alter the kitchen in the space they rented to accommodate a small catering outlet so they could provide hot meals to elderly customers in the community.

A £1,250 grant supported them to cover catering and venue hire for Adira's book launch event. The event was attended by around 100 people and it had 10 volunteers (4 of which were Yorkshire Housing customers).

Project Marigold is a children's mental health charity which works in primary schools across Ryedale. Their focus is on early intervention and they applied for a grant to help deliver play therapy sessions in a number of primary schools near Yorkshire Housing homes.

They were awarded £1000 to help kick off this valuable project.

After a successful 2025 Pride event in Skipton, the group were awarded a community grant of £2500 to help support their smaller events throughout the year that will help them raise funds for Skipton Pride 2026.
