A bit about Leeds
Did you know that Leeds was the first city in the UK to have a motorway – the M1 – and that Marks & Spencer began life right here as a market stall in Leeds Kirkgate Market? Leeds is a vibrant, fast‑growing city in West Yorkshire, with homes across the city centre and surrounding neighbourhoods.
Here’s what our homes look like in Leeds:
2447
homes
63
housing for older people
316
low-cost home ownership
What you told us about living in Leeds
We see feedback as an opportunity to make our services better. To do that, we’ve listened carefully to what you've told us.
You told us that:
- 48% are satisfied with how we manage anti‑social behaviour.
- 67% are happy with communal areas.
- 66% are happy with your neighbourhood.
- 46% are satisfied with how we handle complaints.
These results help us understand what matters most to you, and we know there is some work to do. Leeds needs more visibility, stronger partnership working and better maintained shared spaces and that’s exactly what your Place Plan is designed to deliver.
Your housing officers in Leeds
Meet your Leeds housing officers: Nick, Stephanie, Jack and Josi
As part of our housing officer role and our place-based approach, we’re spending more time out in our neighbourhoods and getting to know the community and our customers who live there.
What we’re doing in Leeds
We’ll be out and about more, carrying out regular estate inspections, visiting hotspot areas, speaking with customers and responding quickly to anything that needs attention.
We’re committed to keeping our communities a safe place to live. We’ll do this by:
- Early support for victims
- Early intervention to stop issues escalating
- Joint working with our partners, including the council and police
We’ll deliver cleaner, safer and better‑maintained shared spaces by:
- Carrying out estate inspections with customers
- Making repairs quicker and communication clearer
- Introducing improved cleaning standards and regular audits
Customer feedback, surveys and local insights help us know where to focus our time –whether that’s a block that needs extra attention or a neighbourhood facing ongoing challenges. We’ll keep using what you tell us to make sure you feel proud of where you live.
Want to get involved?
We put our customers at the heart of everything we do. And we know the best way to improve our services is by listening to you. To do that properly, we need you on board to share your opinions and shape what we do.
If you’d like to get involved, just let us know be emailing yhplacemanagement@Yorkshirehousing.co.uk, and your Housing Officer will be in touch with details of the next inspection in your area.
Local walkabouts
As part of the role of our housing officers and our place plans, we’re spending more time out and about in our neighbourhoods, getting to know local areas and the people who live there. One way we do this is through regular local walkabouts. These give us the chance to look at what’s working well, spot anything that needs attention and talk with customers about what matters most in their area. We’ll send you an invitation a couple of weeks before each walkabout takes place.
You’ll usually see our colleagues out locally in Yorkshire Housing uniform, so keep an eye out and feel free to stop and say hello.
