Violence

Violence of any kind is serious and distressing. Even threats, swearing, or verbal abuse can be intimidating.

What should you do?

If you’ve been threatened or feel unsafe, report it straight away to us and the police. Violence is a criminal offence, and we’ll start an investigation within 24 hours of you contacting us. Never put yourself at risk by confronting the person.

To make a report, call us on 0345 366 4404 or use our online form. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999. For non-emergencies, call 101.

What will we do?

We take reports of violence very seriously. We’ll do everything we can to keep you safe and keep your information confidential, unless you agree to share it. We might ask you to use the ASB App to record dates, times, and send photos or videos of incidents.

There’s lots we can do, depending on how serious the problem is, including:

  • Ask you to use the ASB app or keep a diary to record evidence
  • Issue verbal and written warnings
  • Arrange mediation or restorative justice
  • Fit extra security measures like CCTV, locks, and lights
  • Provide CCTV equipment for your home
  • Take legal action
  • Work with the police or council for extra support
