Yorkshire Housing board member David Perry has seen first-hand how changes to the HomeWorks division have bedded in and are delivering results for customers.
An investment team leading on renovations was created within HomeWorks about two years ago.
HomeWorks is the housing association’s own internal contractor and has about 160 staff, from plumbers to joiners, gas engineers and grounds maintenance workers.
David recently visited an area near Keighley, West Yorkshire, to see an investment scheme in action.
Some 35 properties at Lang Kirk Close, Farnhill, are benefitting from a £235,000 renovation that will transform the homes.
The work involves fitting 24 new kitchens and 28 new bathrooms over a 12-week building project.
David, a retired former managing director, attended the site with HomeWorks delivery manager Andy Kelham.
They saw new kitchens and bathrooms, which were at various stages of completion, being fitted.
Andy said: “David has been an active supporter of the planned investment team since we began over two years ago.
“So I thought it would be nice to invite David out to the site to view some of the works being completed by my team and visit some of our customers to discuss their experience in the works being carried out.”
David, a board member for nearly six years and who served as Yorkshire Housing’s chair of service inspectors from 2012 to 2014, was impressed with the work.
He is pictured above with delighted customer Cynthia Stubbs in her new kitchen at her home in Lang Kirk Close.
David said: “It was good to have a day out with Andy and the team and meet the customers who are getting new bathrooms and kitchens.
“I was very impressed with the quality of the work being done, as well as the excellent attitude of the team towards the service they are giving to customers.
“Also, the customers were extremely happy with both the quality of the products and the way the teams respected their home during the process.
“All I heard was praise for the workforce. We must remember that customers are the reason we’re here and we must keep up the high standards. But well done to all involved.”
- The Planned Investment Team has a remarkable customer feedback record – with 29 out of 32 people ranking the service as 10 out of 10 recently.
Customers in the Keighley, Barnsley and Rotherham areas were surveyed in September and October following kitchen and/or bathroom installations fitted by the HomeWorks-based team.
That means more than 90 per cent of respondents awarded the team the highest possible marks in the survey.
Just one of the many positive comments included:
Resident in Heath Crescent, Keighley: “Thank you for an excellent job done well. Everyone worked hard. Electricians Charlotte + Josh plasterer + decorator did wonderful work. Fitters made a good for (sic). I’m in heaven. Thank you again.”
