Yorkshire Housing has announced that it will be the headline sponsor of this summers 2017 Skipton Cycle Race held Wednesday July 5.
The race was launched three years ago by Craven District Council and it has been included in British Cycling’s prominent Elite Criterium Series —meaning the best cyclists in the country will be competing. It will also be televised on Eurosport and Channel four.
Taking place on 5 July, it’s expected that crowds will flock to Skipton High Street to spectate.
Yorkshire Housing chief executive Mervyn Jones said: “We’re thrilled to support the cycle race, this big event will attract thousand of people to Skipton town center.
“The event will be showcased on national TV, so it’s a great opportunity to spread the word about the work we do in the local community in Craven—being involved in the race means we can promote our great communities programme and build awareness.”
Craven District Council’s partnerships and communications manager Sharon Hudson, said: “We’re delighted Yorkshire Housing decided to come on board and support Skipton Cycle Races this year.
“This was a great event in 2015 and 2016 which built on the legacy of the Tour de France in Craven. The races are really exciting with cyclists reaching high speeds and really thrilling the crowds.”
