Work restarts on affordable homes in Ripon

Building work has restarted at Hutton Bank in Ripon, where 37 affordable homes are being built to give more people in Yorkshire a place to call home.

The project, which will deliver homes for affordable rent, rent to buy, and shared ownership, had faced some delays after the original contractor entered insolvency, but we’re pleased to announce that our new contractor, Jack Lunn Ltd, has now started work on site.

Hutton Bank is a key development for us, turning a former warehouse site into high-quality homes in an area of high housing demand. With support from Homes England, this scheme will help more people find an affordable place to live in Ripon.

Steve Harrison, Senior Project Manager at Yorkshire Housing, said:

“It’s great to see work restarting at Hutton Bank, and we’re looking forward to delivering these new homes for the community. We know there’s a real demand for affordable housing in North Yorkshire, and this development will help more people get onto the housing ladder or access secure, affordable rent.”

The scheme originally secured outline planning permission from Harrogate Borough Council in 2021, with the newly formed North Yorkshire Council now overseeing the area.

It’s hoped the development will be completed by the end of October 2026.
