The community investment service have an impressive set of end of year figures. Some two years into their three year target of 1,000 customers into employment, self-employment, training and volunteering, they have already supported 935 customers. So far they have helped:
- 248 into employment
- 357 with training
- 248 with self-employment
- 82 into volunteering
For those 248 customers who were helped into employment, came off benefits or got better jobs, they are now £2,916,289 better off due to the support of our employment coaches.
When a coach meets a customer for the first time they look at the big picture, as it’s not just about getting them in to a job. It’s about finding a career that fits with their commitments but also meets their aspirations. If customers are helped to gain work in field they want to do then there is a much better chance of that employment being sustainable.
Great access to training has helped customers to increase skills. Direct links to employers such as Group 4 Services Next and BGL (compare the meerkat) has helped the team to hit this impressive target.
A recent survey by Yorkshire Housing also showed that nearly 85% of the business supported by Yorkshire Housing enterprise coaches are still trading. National averages state that 30% of businesses fail in the first year and 50% in the first 5 years.
