Our apprentice Elyssa’s been shortlisted for a top award!

We’re over the moon to share that our multi-skilled apprentice, Elyssa, has been named a finalist in the National Apprenticeship and Skills Awards 2025 for Yorkshire and the Humber.

The awards celebrate apprentices and employers who’re making a real difference, and Elyssa has done just that. As part of her role, she’s been learning the ropes across different trades, building her skills and confidence while helping us deliver great services for our customers.

Making the shortlist is something to be really proud of. It shows the dedication Elyssa has put into her apprenticeship and the impact she’s already making here at Yorkshire Housing.

After finding out the news, Elyssa said:

“I’ve learned so much already on my apprenticeship and being shortlisted for this award means a lot. I’m very grateful for the support I’ve had, particularly from my mentors Darren Richardson and Gary Pearson, as well as Kiran Olak who’s opened a lot of opportunities for personal development too. They’ve been invaluable in helping me grow in confidence and to keep pushing myself.”

Kiran, our Emerging Talent Lead, added:

“It’s brilliant to see Elyssa recognised in this way. She’s a fantastic role model for other apprentices, showing how hard work and a positive attitude can open doors. We’re really proud of her.”

Elyssa will find out if she’s a winner at the regional awards ceremony later this year. Good luck - we’ll all be cheering you on!
