Extra care is the answer if you’d like your own apartment but need access to care and support 24/7.

We’ve got two extra care homes - Deansfield Court in Norton near Malton, and Sherwood Court in Kettlethorpe near Wakefield.

Deansfield Court

A modern complex of 50 one and two-bedroom apartments in Norton.

It’s a friendly welcoming community, with plenty of activities, from crafts to bingo!

Onsite care is provided by North Yorkshire County Council and is rated as good by the Care Quality Commission.

Deansfield Court

Sherwood Court 

A mix of one and two-bedroom apartments in Kettlethorpe, near Wakefield. Many of the apartments have balconies with views of the garden and out into the countryside.

It’s a great community, with plenty of going on including coffee mornings and craft activities.

Onsite care is provided by Wakefield Council and is rated as good by the Care Quality Commission.

No matter whether you choose Sherwood Court or Deansfied Court, you’ll have a private one or two-bedroom apartment.

It’ll have a separate living room, kitchen and an accessible bathroom.

All homes are fitted with emergency alarms, so you'll feel safe and will be able to call on help when you need it.

Both places are fully wheelchair accessible.

There's loads of onsite amenities and a real community feel. There’s a range of activities which you can get involved in as much or as little as you like. The choice is yours!

Facilities at both Deanswood Court and Sherwood Court include:

  • Lounge and activity room. Get involved in coffee mornings, craft or music sessions, bingo and more. Or just sit back and relax with friends.
  • Library
  • Hairdressers
  • Laundry room
  • Restaurant 
  • Both schemes have gardens for customers to enjoy
  • Guest flats for family or friends to stay in.

At Deansfield Court, care is from North Yorkshire County Council, and at Sherwood Court it’s provided by Wakefield Council.

Care plans are based on your needs and choices, so you can have as much or as little support as you need. The aim is to help you live as independently as you can.

Personal care is available if needed. There’s an internal call system for emergencies, such as falls, giving peace of mind 24 hours a day.

Both care teams work in partnership with other professionals such as GPs, district nurses and dieticians, so you get the right support.

How to apply

To apply for a place, you must have a care needs assessment done by your local authority. For Deansfield Court this is North Yorkshire County Council and for Sherwood Court, it's Wakefield Council.
