Work to retrofit thirty houses and flats with heat pumps and solar panels in the Craven area has been completed.
Work started on properties in Skipton, Burton-In-Lonsdale, Clapham and Horton-In-Ribblesdale in March.
As part of the project solar panels have been installed on all homes by leading energy solutions provider E.ON, and six have had an air source heat pump installed, replacing their solid fuel heating and immersion systems with low carbon alternatives, reducing the impact of rising energy prices, and cutting carbon emissions by around 30 tonnes.
The project has been delivered thanks to £80,000 from the European Regional Development Fund, which was secured by Craven District Council as part of their £1.2m Zero Carbon Craven scheme.
Yorkshire Housing has also invested £170,000 into the project as they ramp up their efforts to decarbonise existing homes ahead of government targets.
Customers have been impressed with the installations and Yorkshire Housing will be supporting them over the next few weeks as they get used to their new heating systems.

Councillor Simon Myers, Craven District Council’s lead member for Enterprise, said: “We were pleased to include Yorkshire Housing in this project who have been able to install renewable technologies in their properties for the benefit of Craven residents.”

“Greater sustainability in homes pays back immediately and exponentially in terms of lower costs, reduced emissions, cleaner air and more comfortable homes. These 30 households are now reaping the benefits of living in properties generating their own renewable electricity.”
