Yorkshire Housing celebrates 1,500 new home milestone

We’re “well chuffed” to announce we’ve finished building our 1,500th new home since we pledged to build 8,000 affordable homes by 2030. That’s despite challenges across the sector caused by the pandemic.

We hit the milestone at our Long Lee development in Keighley, where we’re working alongside Space Homes and Vistry. The £6m site consists of 61 homes, of which 21 are affordable, 32 are shared ownership and eight are rent to buy.

Yorkshire Housing director of development Sian Grindley, said:

“We’re really pleased to hit this important milestone. It means we’re well on the way to delivering 8000 new mixed tenure homes across Yorkshire by 2030.

“Every new home we build is transforming communities, providing families with affordable, quality and safe housing, and creating jobs and training for local people.

“There’s an urgent need for more affordable housing in Yorkshire and we’re really proud to be delivering thousands of new homes that give people a chance to have a place they’re proud to call home.”

The Long Lee development is made up of two and three-bedroom homes available for affordable rent through Yorkshire Housing and shared ownership through Space Homes. Homes at Long Lee are future proofed with electric vehicle charging points.
