Support group launches at Yorkshire Housing’s Rye Court

Next Steps Mental Health Resource Centre has launched a new outreach group at Yorkshire Housing’s Rye Court retirement housing in Helmsley.

The group, which is open to anyone, has been set up to support people who may be feeling vulnerable and lonely in the Ryedale area.

The sessions run every Friday from 10pm – 2pm and allow people to get involved in activities such as crafts, games, music, knitting and quizzes!

Anne Marflitt from Next Steps runs the group and said:

“We’ve hosted two sessions so far and they’ve proved to be very popular! We used the first session as a ‘get to know you’ and then the following week we got stuck into activities.

“The feedback has been great with users telling us that they’re so pleased a social group has started at Rye Court as they love the company and a good natter.

"We’re really looking forward to continuing these sessions and hope to see more new faces come through the door each week.”

James Turley, Scheme Manager at Rye Court, said:

“We’re really pleased that Next Steps have chosen Rye Court to host these sessions, giving not only our customers, but residents of Ryedale a chance to socialise with others.

“So far, we hear the sessions have been a huge success, with new faces arriving each week!”
