After Dr Guy Marshall held a talk on artificial intelligence with some of our colleagues, we knew we had to get him on our Raising the Roof podcast.
He’s one of the UK’s leaders in AI and blew us away with his ability to explain a complex subject in such a clear and concise way. So, we invited him along and were lucky enough for him to join us for episode six of this season.
If you’re unfamiliar with the name, Guy’s got a pretty impressive CV.
He’s a Cambridge mathematician turned researcher, technology and scaling advisor, and he works as Chief Technology Officer and Director at PorthouseDean – a leading structural engineering firm based in Manchester.
He has a PHD in AI, so he knows his stuff, and is a regular international speaker on culture change, agile software development, and technical diagrams.
Guy joined our CEO Nick Atkin in the studio earlier this summer for a conversation about the risks and rewards of AI, and how it has the potential to become one of the most transformative technologies in the history of humankind.
He also helped us explore how AI could be used to solve some of the big challenges facing the social housing sector.
“So, AI, it's kind of like if you have a hammer,” Guy said. “The right thing to do is to find the problems that you want to solve rather than say 'I've got this hammer that is AI, what can I hit with it?'”

Also be sure to hit the follow button on our channel to make sure you don’t miss out on any new episodes.
That’s because we have two more fantastic guests to finish off this season in style - Melanie Franklin, Director of Agile Change Management, and Tracy Harrison, Chief Executive of the Northern Housing Consortium.
Stay tuned – and happy listening!
