Yorkshire Housing celebrates the arrival of 14 new apprentices!

14 fresh faces have started their journey with us, increasing our apprenticeship cohort to 43 in total, representing over 5% of our current workforce.

Our apprenticeship programme continues to be a gateway for people to gain hands-on experience in their chosen fields while earning a living, developing vital skills, and achieving recognised qualifications.

At Yorkshire Housing, our commitment to housing extends beyond bricks and mortar. We offer a diverse range of apprenticeships, spanning from trade roles in gas and plumbing to digital marketing, finance, customer service, and so much more! These programmes mix practical training with academic learning, typically lasting for two to four years.

We’ve proudly welcomed 165 apprentices into our fold since 2007, with more than 70% transitioning into permanent roles. Our retention rate shows our dedication to supporting local Yorkshire talent and crafting a forward-looking workforce.

Kiran Olak, Senior People Development Coordinator at Yorkshire Housing said:

"Welcoming our new apprentices to the business is one of my favourite days of the year. We all meet in our hub, The Place, for a settling in day to give our apprentices and their close colleagues a chance to get to know each other and indulge in some well-deserved pizza for lunch!

“We’re determined to offer people of all ages a chance to kickstart their careers through our apprenticeship scheme. Our apprentices gain access to fully funded, nationally recognised qualifications while gaining practical experience with our dynamic teams.

“Their contributions make a huge impact on our business and customer satisfaction, and I'm looking forward to seeing their journeys with us."

Mia Moorhouse is our new Housing Apprentice and said:

"I'm excited to be joining Yorkshire Housing! It felt like the perfect place to kickstart my career in housing in such a supportive environment. They don't just talk about work-life balance - they really embrace it.

"I've enjoyed my first day, getting to meet the other new apprentices and colleagues and picking up our equipment. I'm looking forward to getting stuck in, learning, growing and contributing to the great work that happens here."
