Diversity makes our community stronger, by Nasir Hussain

Nasir Hussain is an active member of our Customer Voice and Review Committee (CVRC). As our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) champion, he makes sure that all customer voices are heard and represented.

I joined the CVRC because I wanted the opportunity to represent my local, diverse community and make sure our voices are heard. I’m proud to be the CVRC’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion champion. It’s something I’m passionate about. I’ve always celebrated diversity, promoted cultural unity, and campaigned for equality.

I enjoy listening to other people’s views and opinions which might be different to mine because that’s what makes life so interesting. Hopefully, by representing my local community in this way I’ll inspire others to get involved too.

In my role as ED&I champion, I hope to empower people from diverse backgrounds to get involved and share their views. I’ll listen to them and make sure their voices are heard. This will help Yorkshire Housing to better understand our communities, be proactive with community initiatives and encourage constructive customer interactions. I’m also aiming to promote equality and celebrate diversity across our communities.

I’d love more customers to get involved and join the CVRC. It’s a great opportunity for you to have your say, make change happen, learn new things and develop your own skills. I’ve learned lots about social housing issues as well as local community matters, so it’s helped me to grow my own knowledge.

Joining the CVRC has been a really positive experience for me and that’s all down to Yorkshire Housing knowing how important it is to talk to customers and give them a voice. I know they’re listening to us and using our feedback, suggestions, and ideas to improve the customer experience and make sure they deliver what all customers want – a home to be proud of.

If you’re interested in getting involved, you can find out more about how to do this here. There’s always a place for you, you really can make a difference to the community you call home.
