We’re installing 10 new defibrillators at schemes across Yorkshire, making it easier for customers and local communities to get to one quickly in an emergency.
A defibrillator, also known as a defib, can help save someone’s life if their heart suddenly stops beating.
The idea came from our Schemes and Supported Housing Manager, Fran, after a conversation during first aid training.
It got Fran thinking about how close our customers are to a defib if they ever need one. So, she checked what was available near our schemes.
She found 10 schemes without a defib within 200 metres. At some, the nearest one was a couple of miles away.
Fran worked with teams across Yorkshire Housing to change that. Together, they secured around £25,000 in funding from Travis Perkins for 10 new defibs. They've been installed at:
- Asquith Court
- Chestnut Court
- Forest Court
- Garden Court
- Haverah Court
- Jubilee Court
- Kingston Court
- Parkfield Court
- St Edwins
- Deansfield Court
Fran said: “It’s fantastic to see the new defibs being installed. A huge thank you to Travis Perkins for their generous donation. We simply wouldn’t have been able to do this without their support.

All 10 defibs have been registered on The Circuit, the UK’s national defibrillator network. This means ambulance services will know where they are and can direct someone to the nearest available defib in an emergency.
