A year of building affordable homes across Yorkshire

Building high‑quality, affordable homes has never been more important. Over the past year, we’ve been working on new developments across the region as part of our goal to build 8,000 affordable homes.

In that time, we’ve completed 459 homes and started work on another 180, helping more families find a safe, secure place to call home. We’ve also reached some key milestones, including starting our first gas‑free developments in Amotherby, Holme on Spalding Moor and Bridlington.

These homes are warmer, more energy efficient and cheaper to run, setting new standards in our region. Instead of gas boilers, they use air source heat pumps, better insulation, solar panels and battery storage. This helps keep homes comfortable and makes energy bills easier to manage.

Behind all of this is a huge team effort. Our delivery, acquisitions and aftercare teams work closely together to turn plans into affordable homes for people in need.

The need for this work is clear. Around 172,000 households across Yorkshire and the Humber are on waiting lists. That’s families, older people and individuals all looking for stability. This is why we’re focused on delivering more affordable rent, social rent and low‑cost home ownership - giving people the security and stability they need for a better future.

None of this would be possible without the hard work of our delivery, acquisitions and aftercare teams, working together to turn plans into real homes.
