Welcome to our new apprentices!

Following our highly successful apprenticeship recruitment campaign in the summer, we are delighted to welcome our new apprentices.

Charlotte Thristan (Digital Content Producer Apprentice)

“In my first week at YH I have been stuck straight into producing content  which I love to do by creating website headers and videos for things that the team are currently working on as well as looking over all social channels.”

Matthew Smith (Apprentice Electrician)

“First week at YH I have been learning how to fault find, testing and installing alarms.”

Leon Stodart-Hall (Environmental Operative Apprentice)

“I have already been strimming and lawn mowing. I have also learnt how to use equipment safely, PPE and Yorkshire housing policies and procedures to ensure effective health and safety.”

James Sibley (Apprentice Electrician)

“In first week I have been working in YH properties, learning and carrying out installation condition reports.”

Joe Mayer (Estates Services Apprentice)

“I have already been shown and began helping putting in key safes and supporting clear outs.”

Anna Johnson (Enhanced Tenancy Administration Support Services Apprentice)

“My experience at YH so far has been very informative, I have met a lot of friendly faces and learnt about some of the work they are currently doing. I am very excited to be involved in helping support each of these teams. I have attended Safeguarding Committee meeting and began using systems such as Community Insight.”

The apprentices will develop skills and competencies required for their specific roles by shadowing colleagues and gaining hands-on experience ‘on the job’. At the same time, they will also be studying for an academic qualification in their relevant discipline.

Senior people development coordinator Kiran Olak said:

“Apprenticeships offer a perfect opportunity for us to grow future talent and shape our future workforce.  We are pleased that our apprenticeship scheme continues to attract talented and innovative individuals. Our apprentices are proud to work for us, and we are passionate in supporting the success of our apprentice’s careers. Good luck to all our new apprentices.”

This latest cohort of apprentices builds on our outstanding track record for delivering talent and growing our own at Yorkshire Housing, having recruited over 100 apprentices since 2007 YH has retained over 70% of apprentices post their apprenticeship, with a number of its ex-apprentices continuing to climb the ranks today.
