One of Yorkshire Housing’s shining stars has been shortlisted for a national Woman of the Year award in housing.

Katherine Proctor has worked for Yorkshire Housing for four years and in that time she has become an inspiration to others she has worked with, helping to provide the best service for our customers.

The award, which is part of the Women in Housing awards, is given out annually to celebrate women who work in the housing sector and is organised by Inside Housing, the industry trade publication. The awards culminate in a glitzy ceremony, which will be held in Manchester in October.

Katherine, who is the head of Yorkshire Housing’s in-house repairs team, called it a “real privilege” to be shortlisted as a finalist for the woman of the year award. She said:

“It is particularly touching as the nomination has come from my colleagues and their endorsement and support of me is what really matters and means the most to me. That said, it doesn’t mean that I don’t want to win…It would be unreal to win and I hope that I do.”

Katherine was nominated by her colleagues for the excellent work she has done since becoming Head of Service almost a year ago.

Interim business support team leader, Samantha Harker, said Katherine was an inspiration to her as a woman.

“As my head of service, Katherine always gives an encouraging hand to try and support, but not only this, to provide empowerment regardless of your gender or status within a business. It’s really clear that she has a passion for business, people and housing and combined this is a powerful inspiration for a lot of people, myself included.”

In 2018 the Women in Housing Awards were acquired by Inside Housing and they are being run in partnership with the Chartered Institute of Housing.
