Saving Energy and Helping the Environment
Environment & Sustainability Policy & Action Plan 2006
As a landlord we are engaging with and addressing the various aspects of sustainability in areas such as 'passionate about the patch', community development, social inclusion, tenant participation and diversity. In development terms we have addressed issues of environmental impact, in terms of building eco homes and improving the energy efficiency of the homes we manage but we recognise we need to build on this to ensure environmental sustainability across other aspects of our work.
The business case for sustainable development has been defined as the 'triple bottom line' of social, environmental and economic advantage. For Yorkshire Housing this means:
- Improving the lives, opportunities and income of our customes and the communities where they live.
- Reducing the total environmental impact of our activities in our customers interest, our interest and that of future generations.
- Ensuring that our overall financial performance is maintained or improved.
Our action plan for 2006 will be uploaded by mid October.
