In Your Neighbourhood

We want to be a neighbourhood focussed housing association and we believe that the changes we are making will lead to improvements for you in your home and within your community.

Customers told us that they want YH staff to have more contact with them in their neighbourhoods.  We have made changes to our housing teams to deliver this, along with a real sense of community.

• We will be working hard in your neighbourhood to understand the issues and address any changes that need to be made.
• We will visit every household to find out from you what is important.
• We will hold events in your neighbourhood in partnership with others to engage everyone in improvements.

This is what you can expect - The Neighbourhood Promise.

Working in each neighbourhood, the team will include:

Neighbourhood Officer

They will be the first port of call for general queries including complaints , will undertake planned visits, estate walkabouts, manage empty and new homes and work with communities to tackle local issues including anti-social behaviour.

Income Officer

They will advise you on the best way to pay your rents and work with local authorities to support you with benefits

Benefits & Money Advisor

They will support you with all your benefits queries and help you to maximise your income

Community Engagement Advisor

They will help you and the Neighbourhood team to make your community a great place to live. They will support you to tackle issues locally, starting and working with community groups who want to make changes.

Some neighbourhood teams will also include:

Community Caretaker

They will be in your neighbourhood undertaking minor repairs and keeping it tidy.

Warden

They will provide support to some older and vulnerable people in your neighbourhood.

We want to make sure that the YH staff that you see have time to spend in your neighbourhood. Although you will see more of the Neighbourhood and Income Officers, lots of other YH staff will contribute to making sure that you feel your neighbourhood is important to us.
