Looking For A Home

How We Let Our Homes

Brunel Housing, Ryedale Housing and Yorkshire Metropolitan Housing (Housing Services)

A waiting list is kept of people who want to rent a home from us. We work with local councils in meeting housing need through nominations.

Who can apply?

Anyone aged 16 years or over. We aim to treat everyone fairly and equally and will not discriminate on such grounds as race, colour, gender, sexuality, disability, religion, culture or HIV status.

Prioritising your application

We use a points system. Contact us for details.

Transfers for existing tenants

Existing tenants in Housing Services can apply to move to a more suitable home. Your application will treated the same as all other applicants, but you will receive priority if you have lived in your current home with us for 12 months.

Exchanges

Tenants with Housing Services normally have the right to exchange their home with another Housing Services, council or other housing association tenant. Contact your area housing office for more details or visit Looking To Swap Your Home

Craven Housing Waiting List

Craven Housing operates a housing register, waiting list and an allocations policy together with Craven District Council.
The register is used to decide who should be offered a Craven Housing home and who should be put forward for re-housing by other housing associations in Craven District.
The register operates on a points system with points awarded according to the level of need. The most important factors we take into account are:
  • living conditions within their present home
  • the suitability of the present home on medical grounds
  • the need for social support
  • living in temporary or other insecure accommodation
  • the applicant’s financial circumstances
  • the applicant’s connection to the Craven District
Anyone can apply for a home in Craven. Application packs can be picked up from our office.
