Craven Housing

Craven Housing Association was first formed in March 2003 following the voluntary transfer of all Craven District Council's homes. Craven Housing amalgamated with Yorkshire Housing in 2008.

Craven manage over 1,480 properties across North Yorkshire in:

  • Skipton
  • Crosshills
  • Glusburn
  • Long Preston
  • Gargrave
  • Hellifield
  • Settle
  • Grassington
  • Ingleton
  • Bentham
  • and other small villages

Craven operate from Skipton, with a local office on our largest estate on Greatwood and Horseclose in Skipton. The majority of our homes are in small market towns and villages, many in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park.

We hope to meet the needs of single people, couples, families, older persons or those with special needs who want supported housing. Being in an area with high house prices there is high demand for affordable rented housing in Craven and we always have many applicants on our waiting list.

The Craven Operational Committee has five tenants, three local councillors and four independent members. It makes decisions about the management and maintenance of our properties and ensures high levels of standards in the services that we provide.

We make a strong commitment to our tenants and offer them opportunities to get involved in the management of their homes through a number of tenant involvement initiatives.

All tenants of the association and others with an interest in housing in Craven can become shareholding members of Yorkshire Housing with rights to attend the annual general meeting and receive financial and progress reports.

Craven also run a homelessness and housing advice service on behalf of Craven District Council. You can find out more by calling Michael Hewson at Craven on 01756 704 500
