Brunel Housing

Brunel Housing logoThis association was established in 1968 by Bradford Council and the charity Shelter, to tackle the shortage of quality housing for lower income households in Bradford.

In 1999, Brunel merged with Support Works, a support and care housing provider based in Bradford before joining with Yorkshire Housing Group in 2006 and amalgamating in 2008. In total over 2,700 homes are managed from the Bradford office.

We face many challenges in the urban areas in which we work and with the homes we manage. Much of our housing is over 20 years old and we have recently embarked on a programme to invest over £18 million over three years to modernise and remodel much of it. We plan to create homes in an environment which customers will want to live in, deliver innovation, anticipate demand and contribute to the creation of mixed, successful communities.

We want our customers to be satisfied with the services we provide and intend working closely with them to transform service delivery.

We provide support and care services to customers with a variety of needs. Our cafés at The Filling Station and The Edge provide employment for customers with learning disabilities while our plant nursery at Ashfield offers training and work experience in horticulture. Our contract garden maintenance business, Bradford Gardening Services, carries out work on a large number of sites and also provides employment for people with learning disabilities. We also grow organic vegetables and trees on our allotments at Bull Royd.
