Tenant Involvement - Craven

Craven Housing - Tenant Involvement

Craven Housing is committed to increasing opportunities for tenants to be involved in decision making. This has been recognized as a key aim in our Tenant Participation strategy.

There are a number of ways to get involved:

Craven District Tenants' Panel

The panel has members from across the Craven District.

The District Tenants' Panel represent the views of all Craven tenants. They are committed to:

  • Consult with tenants on all issues that may affect them
  • Involve all sections of the Community
  • Liaise with officers and representatives of Craven Housing to ensure the tenants receive the best possible service
  • Represent the views of Craven Housing tenants to the Yorkshire Housing Group
  • Their role is to encourage an ever improving service for tenants of Craven Housing

Craven Sheltered Tenants Panel

When the Craven Housing Association took over the management of the Craven Council housing stock, they discovered various types of housing, and it was agreed that the principles of the Yorkshire Housing Group be implemented, one of these was the involvement of tenants in the day to day affairs of management.

Among the types of housing were the six Sheltered Schemes and Bungalows looked after by the wardens.

It was then agreed that a panel be set up from these units, and so formed the SHELTERED TENANTS PANEL.

Two tenants from each scheme along with three wardens formed the Panel.

The Six schemes are based in Ingleton, Grassington, Embsay, Sutton and two based in Skipton.

Quarterly Meetings are held in each scheme in turn, together with four Joint tenants Meetings with the District Tenants Panel and the Greatwood & Horseclose Residents Association.
