Development Projects

Yorkshire Housing builds between 250 and 300 new homes each year, both for sale and to rent. Current development projects are listed here.

In Development

Morley Bottoms

Regeneration of a row of empty shops is underway to provide 22 well designed and environmentally friendly homes for the people of Morley Bottoms.

This £4 million development will completely regenerate the shops and flats dating from 1908 to provide 22 much needed two bed apartments, to be completed in 2011.

Our Chief Executive Mervyn Jones said:

"We are delighted that work on the site is well underway. These properties are a wonderful example of how through partnership working, Yorkshire Housing is able to deliver modern and environmentally-friendly homes to the people who need them most."

Built to extremely high environmental standards, this development will visually compliment the local area. Solar Voltaic roof tiles will generate electricity for the homes and will also be exported back to the national grid.

Naz Parkar, Head of Area for West Yorkshire at the Homes and Communities Agency said:

"This project will enhance the neighbourhood and help develop a sense of place by creating homes where people can not only afford to live but also want to."

Coming Soon

Birch Park

This multimillion pound development is being built in conjunction with Urban I, York Limited and City of York Councils Section 106 agreement.

The development is in four phases with the full completion due in early 2011.

Accommodation Types

For Social Rent:
  • 20 two bed apartments
  • 6 three bed houses
  • 2 four bed houses
For Discounted Sale:
  • 12 two bed apartments
  • 2 three bed houses
  • 1 four bed houses

The apartments available for discounted sale will be part of an innovative new housing product, the Birch Park deposit scheme. The deposit scheme will be targeted at first time buyers and we plan to help buyers rent the apartments initially and also help them to save towards a deposit at the same time.

Mervyn Jones, Chief Executive at Yorkshire Housing, said:

"Developments like these are important and it is vital they continue so we can provide family homes and also support the construction industry providing local jobs for local people."
