Investment Programme

Every year Yorkshire Housing invests between £5 and £10 million to improve and modernise customers’ homes.

The investment programme aims to:

  • create up-to-date, attractive homes and communities that customers can be proud to live in – make Yorkshire Housing a landlord of choice
  • reduce the number of empty homes and the time they are empty by creating homes that attract new customers and retain existing ones, helping us to run an efficient business
  • reduce fuel bills for customers and environmental pollution by improving insulation and installing modern heating systems and controls
  • reduce the need for repair call-outs, saving money and inconvenience for customers
  • maintain the value of our homes, making sure that the company remains in a sound financial position

The investment programme is delivered by a dedicated team of staff who specialise in this type of work. They ensure we keep up-to-date with technology and new innovations, and keep in close contact with our customers.

Customer consultation
This plays a key role in our investment work. Every modernisation job is individually designed with the customer’s needs and preferences in mind. For example, customers can currently choose from seven different styles of kitchen unit as well as choices for worktops, tiling, flooring and the layout of the kitchen.

The overall investment programme is planned and prioritised using information from our asset management system, customer satisfaction surveys and our staff’s local knowledge. Customers contribute to deciding the direction of the programme through the area committees and boards of management.

Development and Investment Customer Forum
This joint forum has been established to help decide the products we use in investment work and to represent our customers’ interests in the design of new schemes.
