Tenants And Residents Associations (TARAs)
Tenants' and Residents' Associations (TARAs) are perhaps the best-known form of tenant involvement and have been in existence in various forms for over one hundred years.
TARAs are formed by tenants and residents in a particular area - usually a housing estate or a street - getting together and electing a committee of representatives to form a TARA which will act on their behalf with any dealings with the housing association.
They can take quite a bit of work to set up and run, but a successful TARA can make a real difference in tackling problems like anti-social behavior and in building a strong and supportive community.
