Information for Younger Customers
Yorkshire Housing has a load of things going on for children and young people:
At the moment, we're working with a group of young volunteers on our website. The group is called YoWebStarz and they have their own website where you can comment on what they've been talking about at their meetings. Click the logo to visit the site and join in the chat.
Dreamscheme
Local residents are supported by Yorkshire Housing to set up and run Dreamscheme projects within their community.
Young people undertake some kind of work to improve the area where they live, for each hour the young person puts in, they will receive points. These points are then traded in for trips or activities of the young person's choice.
1 hour = 1 point = £1 to spend on a trip.
Young people can save up their points to go on a more expensive trip or use them on several less expensive outings.

PosBOs
Yorkshire Housing Group recognises the positive efforts of young people across the region by awarding them a Positive-Social Behaviour Order (PoSBO).
These awards are designed to celebrate the great work done by young people and reward them for their efforts in making local communities happier and friendlier. Anyone can nominate someone for an award, as long as the young person they nominate is under 25 years old.
We are now looking for nominations, so either fill in the form in Youth magazine or use our online form:

Family Away Day
This is an annual activity day for all young people living within a Yorkshire Housing property. The program changes every year, so far it has included football training, arts, crafts and dance workshops.
This year we had a graffiti workshop where everyone did their bit to create the picture up above. The board is now on display in our Sheffield office as a brilliant reminder of the day. Well done to everyone involved!
National Take Over Day
National Take Over Day is an opportunity for young people to take over the running of Yorkshire Housing for the day.
The aim is to give young people a glimpse of what it is like to work in an organisation like Yorkshire Housing, as well as work experience that will be of interest to them. Yorkshire Housing offers a variety of positions for young people to take over, including Director of Craven Housing and Chief Executive.
Any young person aged 16-25 years can be involved in the scheme, whilst they do not have to be a tenant; priority is given to those living in our properties.
Work Experience
Work experience helps to develop the skills and attitudes which young people need for the world of work and provides important opportunities to learn directly about working life within Yorkshire Housing.
Any department can be involved with work experience as placements are all individually arranged to meet the needs of the young person taking part.
Virtual Youth Forum
Yorkshire Housing is always keen to hear what customers think of us, so we have made it easier for young tenants to let us know their views.
Young people have the opportunity to be involved in the Yorkshire Housing Group decision making process, so they can help improve the quality of life for young people living in Yorkshire Housing Group properties.
If you're 16-25 and living in a Yorkshire Housing property you can get involved:

Young Tenant Support Service
The Support Service offers a package of support to new tenants under 25 years old in two key areas in order to create a smooth transition for young people moving into their new accommodation.
Support is given around a range of subjects depending on the needs of the young person, but could include information on budgeting, anti-social behaviour, jobs or further education.
Housing - Why Bother?
Yorkshire Housing Group runs a course entitled "Housing - Why Bother?" in local schools for Year 10 and 11 pupils.
The course looks at the housing options available to young people, including private and social rented and purchasing a property. The course also gives information about maintaining a tenancy, budgeting and a young person's rights as a tenant.
Lastly, there is a discussion around careers in housing where young people have the opportunity to talk to people with different jobs within the housing sector.
Advice, training and support
Help is provided to any tenant group that wants to work with children and young people. This includes information about funding sources, child protection and training opportunities.
