Care & Support Services
Support Works delivers a range of supported living options, day services and adult care homes, primarily to people with learning disabilities, though we also support people with mental health issues, head injuries aftercare and other vulnerable groups. In addition, we work with 8 not-for-profit partner agencies who manage supported housing on our behalf.
The Barn in Bradford
Current services mainly cover the Bradford and Kirklees areas. However, services are being developed across the Yorkshire and Humber region to offer care and support options to similar groups in those areas.

Supported Living
Our supported living services comprise 105 bedspaces across 38 properties, plus 24 bedspaces within a project of 8 flats. Additionally, we provide a small amount of low level support to people with brain injuries on a spot contract basis.
Care Homes
Support Works also currently manages 7 adult care homes in Bradford, which are registered with the Commission for Social Care Inspection. Four of these are adult care homes with nursing for people with learning disabilities and complex needs (58 places in total) and are staffed mainly by BDCT. The fifth provides care for 35 older people and is staffed by Support Works’ employees.
In April 2006 we opened a sixth adult care home in Kirklees for 3 people with a learning disability.
We opened our 7th residential care home for 11 people with learning difficulties in March 2008.

Respite/Homecare
Commencing 2008 Support Works will be developing a Respite/Homecare service. This service will be based in a 3 bed property in Bradford and will offer parents and carers the opportunity to receive respite care for a service user for a period of up to two weeks, thus allowing the p
arent/carer a chance to ‘take a break’.
Alternatively, the service could go into a service users home and support that person allowing the parent/carer the same opportunity. The third option could be that the support worker(s) would take the service user on a short break/holiday thereby allowing the parent/carer the same break option.
The service will be further developed to offer a Homecare service. This service will be on a floating support basis where service users, commissioners, social workers or parent/carers could purchase a support package of an agreed number of hours to assist with personal care and support services.
