Corporate Objectives for 2007 - 2010
Mission statement:
We make a difference… this means that we will use our housing role to be a force for sustainable, economic and social improvement, tackling poverty and inequality.
Our Aspirations:
- We aim to be in the top 25% of Housing Associations when measured against established performance indicators.
- We will deliver efficiencies in costs and ways of working that facilitate the better delivery of services and recognise that greater efficiency is the key to all improvements.
- We will have increased the quality and effectiveness of our outward facing customer service, and our support to internal customers within the organisation, who are an integral part of delivering that service.
- We will have excellent homes available for a diverse group within the communities that we serve, and we aim to build more homes.
- We will provide excellent care and support services and increase the extent and range of these services.
- We will be less fragmented as a Group by the end of this Corporate Plan with fewer organisations and more effective but less complex systems and procedures that help deliver our objectives.

iN Business for Neighbourhoods
Making a difference to the property and built environment where we work
N1 – Prioritising the delivery of decent homes for our existing customers to a Yorkshire Housing defined standard.
N2 – Delivering an Asset Management Strategy covering the resources that we own, the location of them and intended changes to meet our objectives. In particular this will encompass the sustainability and environmental impact of all that we do.
N3 – Providing more homes in pursuit of our objectives, those of our partners and particularly those of our customers.
iN Business to Support People
Making a difference to the lives of local communities in Yorkshire
P1 – Improving our customer satisfaction measures through the delivery of our Road to Excellence strategy and ensuring quality outcomes and increasing involvement of customers. The customers with whom we interact will be increasingly representative of the communities that we serve.
P2 – Improving and extending support services to people within their home ranging from full time care within specialist accommodation, to back up resources and support to people within their own home regardless of tenure.
iN Business for Diversity
Making a difference by challenging discrimination and tackling inequality
D1 – Delivering, improving and monitoring our equality and diversity strategy. Recognising the recent initiatives within YHG and the addition of the Bradford Foyer to the Group, particular attention will be paid to the development of housing and services for young people. In addition the needs of refugees, asylum seekers and homeless people will be prioritised to recognise the inclusion of Safe Haven Yorkshire as a member of the Group.

Taking opportunities and using resources to best effect in order to make a difference in delivering our objectives
B1 – Delivering a “Value for Money and Efficiency Strategy” over the life of this Corporate Plan. In particular this will encompass the sustainability and environmental impact of all that we do.
B2 – Rationalising the Group to fewer organisations, with greater consistency, in order to shift resources from internal needs to customer facing service provision.
B3 – Improving and increasing our knowledge and information systems within the Group maximising access to information to facilitate decision making and information sharing.
B4 – Taking an opportunist approach to the work that we do and identifying opportunities to secure commercial profit to cross subsidise our primary objectives.
These ten high level objectives will guide the setting of Group and member organisation plans. Team plans will relate to them as will the objectives that we set for individuals. By delivering these we will fulfil our mission to “make a difference” and will be most effective in doing so. The outcome will be continuous improvement in servicing our customers.
