Yorkshire Housing customers in New Lodge, Barnsley and members of the New Lodge Dreamscheme are taking part in holiday sessions at the New Lodge Community Centre, all leading up to New Lodge’s very own Olympic Games event on Sunday 12 August.
Teams are competing to win the Roundhouse Cup.
Organised by the New Lodge Community Centre Management Group and using funding from South Yorkshire Sport, the Olympic style event will include sporting events, a torch lighting ceremony, podium medal presentation, fireworks and an evening disco.
The holiday sessions, currently being enjoyed by New Lodge Dreamscheme and youth club members are being held twice a week. They include popular Olympic sports as well as the lesser known Olympic events of Singstar, cookery and quizzing!
